A diverse group of plants from Mexico through South America. These are generally considered cool growing plants with a minimum night time temperature of around 10C although some are intermediate requiring it a little warmer. All of them form compact clumps of bulbless plants and like to be kept moist at all times. The flowers are usually triangular in shape and held on elegant stems above the folliage. Some plants like the Dracula flower downwards through the container so need to be grown in baskets
